Errata

Because of technical peculiarities, it has proven impossible to correct some mistakes and blemishes in the original draft.  What follows here addresses them, chapter by chapter.

Chapter 1.  The first three words (“About the author”) should be eliminated from this spot.

Chapters 2 through 6 seem OK.

Chapter 7.  Just before section 2 begins, there’s a misplaced dash.  It should come between “fulfilling” and “benefits” – not after “benefits.”

At the close of section 6 in the 7th chapter, insert this sentence as a new paragraph of its own:   Agents other than individuals – including governments, businesses, religious entities, etc., are rightly called upon to make amends or reparations when they mistreat people on the receiving end of their actions and policies.    

And, in the 7^th paragraph from the end (and that starts “They also need to learn . . .”)   after the words “street corners,” insert “and on countless social media platforms accessible from any smart phone”

The last sentence in chapter 7 – that begins “Agents other than individuals . . .” should not appear here, but rather at the close of section 6 in this 7^th chapter.

Chapter 8.  In the first paragraph, separate “do” from “resist.”

Insert this paragraph to make a new 4^th paragraph:  That fact must be balanced by the awareness that the work of memorization and drill – say, of a list – can be lightened by singing that list to an ascending scale or a familiar tune.  And games like those by Sporcle can lighten the work of learning such things as the location of nations on an unfamiliar content.

In chapter 8, section 2:  Change om to Tom.   Other “resistant” typos in this chapter include “takthe” instead of “take the,” “behavio” instead of “behavior,” and “nrequire” instead of “require.” 

In the longish “My Republican Party Lost Its Way” material, replace the one occurrence of “manned” with “man-made.”  And in the next-to-last paragraph of this lengthy linked material, replace “enacting and repealing” with “formulating and revising.”  And in the last paragraph, after FBI add “and others.”
